I think it was a mistake

What's up with the gear change?!?!?!?! After owning it for 2 months my family & I go on a 2hr trip & 40min into the drive when downshifting from second to first we started to hear noises. Kept on going the noise started to get worse. Then the car completely didn't move fwd or bkwrd with an abrupt stop. Have it in the dealers shop for over a week now & had to have the transmission replaced. Very upsetting!!!
